Aero
Marine Services
A Little Bit About Us
Aero
Marine Services, Inc. is owned and operated by
myself and my wife Sandy and is the culmination of our experience over 30 years
in General and Corporate Aviation and 33 years in Recreational
Boating on the Great Lakes and the Inland Lakes and Waterways in the states that
border Lake Michigan. We are located in South Chicago Heights, Illinois, which
is south of the Chicago Metropolitan area and about 20 minutes from the Southern
Shores of Lake Michigan. I am an Aviation Technician and Inspector by trade and
I have extensive training and teaching experience in the Aviation and Marine
Service Industries. I also love to fly! I am an F.A.A. Licensed Pilot with 30
years of flying experience and over 4000 incident free flying hours. Along with
Single Engine flying experience, I am also Multi-Engine and Instrument Rated and
my flight experience covers most single and light twin engine aircraft through
the Beechcraft King Air and Piper Cheyenne Turboprop Series.
Along with flying, we love
Boating too! We
travel all over southern and central Lake Michigan in our 1987
Sea Ray 390 Sport fish that we keep moored at
Pastrick Marina in East Chicago, Indiana.
The name of our boat
is
J.A.C.S.
R Wild
and you'll always see our Golden Retriever-
Harley- riding along enjoying the
fresh air with us. The acronym for the name on our boat is made from the first
letter of each of our family member's names; (J)ason; (A)rchie; (C)hris; and (S)andy. This has been our family
logo since the kids were little and came from Sandy signing our Christmas Cards
each year with this logo.
I am very involved
with Boating Safety and Boating Organizations. I am a member of the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club and
was Legislative Secretary for eight
years. As Legislative Secretary, I reviewed the laws and regulations that were
proposed in Illinois and Indiana and then reported those regulations to our
members. In 1995, I took a lot of time and (3) court appearances to help get the
Indiana Law changed that required 'Out-of-State' boaters to register and title
their vessels in the State of Indiana if the vessel was kept in the state 22
consecutive days. In challenging this law, I and other concerned boaters were
able to show the State of Indiana and the Indiana Department of Conservation
that it would be impossible to enforce this law and subsequently was able to
have the wording in the law changed back to the original 60 consecutive day
period for registration and titling. I have also been the past Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Harbor Yacht Club. I am
also a member of BOAT U.S. and was past
Rear Commodore of the Lake Michigan Yachting Association - Indiana
Region.
